God created me to do this work and He prepared me for it by allowing me to teach in the Daviess County Public School System for 32 years. This teaching experience provided me with many skills: planning, organizing, instruction and lots of patience!
Teaching these instructional painting events were not my idea, far from it. This was from God. I had lots of reasons why I couldn't teach art so He lead me to the "burning bush" and let me know this wasn't about me. God put this in my hands because He had a job for me to do for Him. I simply stepped out in faith and trusted Him to open the doors and lead the way. This is God's business; I work for Him. When searching for a name for the business, it came as a whisper in the middle of the night. I woke up and said, "Canvas Blessings, thank you, Lord." I looked at the list of words I had written down when trying to come up with a name and neither of those words were on the list! So, things continued to fall into place. I held my first workshop on September 23, 2019 and we had such a fun time painting pumpkins with the accompanying scripture, "In all things, give thanks" from 1 Thessalonians 5:13. On Saturday, September 28, my little dog, Hattel, passed away in my arms, following a long illness. I realized later WHY God put this in my hands. HE knew I was going to need something to do to help me through my grief. So, what I thought was to be solely a blessing to others by me using the gifts/talents God had given me, turned out to me a blessing to me, as well. I also saw that if I had not been willing to receive what God was giving me; I would have totally blocked the blessing.
I do not have an Art Degree, and I took my very first painting class in 2003. As a child, I did not exhibit artistic abilities but I loved to color and do the "paint by number" kits. So, I walked into this class with absolutely NO art experience! So, I understand; I get it. I have sat in that seat as an "artistically naive" person not knowing what to expect. Wondering whether or not I could do this because I "could not draw stick people". Even though there were people in that class that had been painting for years, the instructor encouraged me to stay even when I felt I didn't belong. But, because I took that first step, God is using the gifts and talents, that were once hidden, to serve YOU.

My hope is that God will use my gifts and love of art to be a blessing to you because it's not just about art.

This is a week-long Painting Event for children of all ages. BUSY BRUSHES (ages 3-7) meet Saturday, July 23 from 9 - 11 AM (children must be accompanied by an adult) FANCY PAINTS - SESSION A (Grades 3 - 5 ) Meet MON - FRI from 9 - 11 AM FANCY PAINTS - SESSION B (Grades 6 - 12) Meet MON - FRI from 1 - 3 PM
This is an acrylic painting on 11x14" canvas. Painting Event open to anyone ages 8+. No painting/art experience necessary; tracer provided. Participation fee: $35 adult; $25 grades 6-12; $20 grades 3-5.

Who can participate in the Workshops?

How do I Join a Class?
Go to EVENTS; click on the session of your choice and "buy" your ticket.
You may also join by contacting me at: canvasblessing08@gmail.com and I will be happy to enroll you in the class of your choice.
Please remit payment in advance of your painting event.
How much do the Workshops cost?
**If you register for a workshop but do not pay by the remittance deadline, you will not be able to participate.

Are all events just for adults?
From time to time, I will offer a Mommy & Me event for children 3-6.
Events for Special Groups (Sunday School classes, organizations, etc.) or Schools/Clubs are also available. Contact me and we can get something set up!
**Anyone under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult, whether the adult paints or not. A special rate is given for artists under 16 years of age.
What if I want to HOST an Event of my own?
You may choose to host in your home, workplace, or church.
As the HOST, when you have eight (8) or more paying participants, you get to paint for FREE! So, gather your family/ friends/colleagues together and Let's Paint!
What if I need to cancel?
Remember, you have a seat reserved especially for you and that your materials have been purchased.
**If Daviess County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather; our class will be cancelled. The Event will be rescheduled.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
No notification, last minute cancellation or a "no show" is non-refundable.
*Regular classes are $35 in value.
** PLEASE NOTE: If a class uses higher valued special materials i.e. wood for porch leaners, which increases the cost of the class because of these materials and extra paint, the Gift Certificate will be issued for the REGULAR CLASS VALUE because the specialty of materials are one-time use.
Are REFUNDS given or can I use a Canvas Blessings Gift Certificate?
Canvas Blessings Gift Certificates may not be redeemed.
Since it is a SPECIAL/PRIVATE Event that makes it a one-time only event for a specific group and not associated with a regular Canvas Blessings workshop.
What if the Painting Event is CANCELLED by CANVAS BLESSINGS due to bad weather?
A). The Event will be RESCHEDULED.
B). If Participant cannot attend the rescheduled event, a GIFT CERTIFICATE will be issued to attend another event of equal or lesser value.
OR
C). An ART KIT will be offered. This would include all supplies/materials/step-by-step instructions so the project can be completed at home.
